REST
GET /v1/history?lat&lon&from&to returns daily
observations as JSON. Authenticate with the X-API-Key header.
Pastcast serves observed weather for any coordinate and date range. Query it from your own code over REST, or hand it to an AI agent over MCP — both read the same data, count against the same quota, and are billed on one plan.
Sign up, create an API key, and start querying. Your plan sets a monthly request quota and a per-minute rate limit across both surfaces. Each year of data a request covers counts as one request.
GET /v1/history?lat&lon&from&to returns daily
observations as JSON. Authenticate with the X-API-Key header.
POST /mcp exposes the same data as Model Context Protocol
tools, so Claude, Cursor and other agents can query weather history directly.
Gaps are fetched from the upstream provider and cached. Large ranges are ingested in the background and returned from a job you can poll.
Quotas are hard limits, not overage triggers. Run out and requests return
402 until you upgrade or the month rolls over.
A request looks like this:
curl -H "X-API-Key: $PASTCAST_API_KEY" \
"https://pastcast.app/v1/history?lat=-33.9249&lon=18.4241&from=2024-01-01&to=2024-01-07"
Every plan includes both the REST API and the MCP endpoint. Prices are in South African Rand, billed monthly by Paystack.
